Stockholm-born Jenny Ljungberg owns The Maidstone, a boutique hotel in East Hampton, and she recently told Condé Nast Traveler that Swedish style is not the living embodiment of an Ikea catalogue. The hotelier said, "If you look at Scandinavian homes, a lot of it is things we inherited from our parents and grandparents, a lot is vintage and eclectic. I wanted to mix the old and the new, because that is what Swedish design is about...I wanted to show a different part of Sweden, not the one you see in design magazines. It's more accessible for guests." Brimming with impactful design that mixes different sensibilities, this haute spot is a favorite among locals and vacationers in the Hamptons. The Maidstone recently teamed up with Tictail and launched an online shop filled with all Scandinavian accouterments available at the hotel. For our part, we have always adored the style and drama that The Maidstone brings to the East End. Check out these pictures that reveal the true nature of whimsical Scandinavian style.
