Dubbed as the designer garage sale of the Hamptons, we attended the 18th annual Super Saturday shopping extravaganza at Nova's Ark Project, 30-60 Millstone Road in Water Mill, yesterday. Event proceeds benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund [OCRF], so that's pretty awesome. Participants included brands like Vince, Theory, Vilbrequin, Diane von Furstenberg, Versace, and so many others peddling designer fashion, home goods, and beauty products at 30% - 50% off retail. As we mingled among the celebs, we couldn't help but learn a few things that are unique to this experience.
1. Giant slides are soooo underrated.
Shoppers needing a lift in between power-buying luxury threads had a variety of activities to choose from. Our favorite was the giant slide followed closely by the ferris wheel. True, these rides might have been intended for the kiddies, but the adults seemed to be having just as much fun.
2. Flower crowns rule!
We thought we might feel a little silly or perhaps like we were at an outdoor festival. But, that wasn't the case at all. We were completely seduced by B Floral's custom headpieces. Apparently, shopping while sporting a flower crown combines the right amount of hippy with glam. And, yes, everybody wore them, even the men!
3. People go crazy for brown and white stripes.
Something about Henri Bendel sent shoppers into a frenzy. Seriously! Ladies of leisure were throwing elbows to get their mitts on HB accessories. We'd be surprised if this booth had anything left over.
4. Eating under tasseled umbrellas is super fun.
Event organizers kicked lunch into high gear with the most adorable umbrellas. Don't believe us? Try eating under a fancy-ass parasol. We dare you not to have a good time.
5. Fido isn't left out.
Once the crowd finished perusing the high-end swag, we were happy to learn that our four legged friends weren't forgotten. Petsmile was there to prevent doggy plaque. Besides, that pooch looks so cute in a bowtie!
