Two New Taxi Apps Debut in the Hamptons

New, 12 comments

There are now two apps competing for your taxi business this summer, attempting to fill the gap in the market left by the disappearance of Uber in East Hampton. First is Hamptons Taxi App, available on Google Play and the Apple app store. This app will allow you to hail 85 cars from Hometown Taxi of East Hampton and Southampton as well as 20 vehicles from other services; you can pay in-app using credit card processing. Right now, rides cost $12 for a pickup with $3 each additional mile.

The other app is Taxi One Hamptons, also available on Android and iOS. Taxis are available through the tri-state area, based on demand, but must begin or end in the Town of East Hampton. Taxi One also says it will shop and deliver groceries for you from supermarkets, Citarella, etc. Prices include "boarding fee" "as low as $5" and fare for one adult "as low as $4 per mile."

If Curbed readers try either of these, let us know how it goes.
