Southampton Village is considering limiting helicopter landings on the Meadow Lane heliport during the summer. Currently helicopter pilots can land there from 8AM-7PM, seven days a week; the new restriction would limit them to three landings per week between July 1 and September 15. East Hampton Town is attempting to restrict helicopter pilots to one landing a week at its airport, although the new regulations haven't taken effect yet; Southampton is worried that if the rules go into effect then chopper traffic at the Meadow Lane heliport will increase. A public hearing is set for Tuesday, June 23 at 6PM.
