Battle continues over 11 Ditch Plains Road in Montauk. When last we checked in, the Ditch Plains Association said they would challenge the certificate of occupancy given to the motel, now called 11 Ditch, which they contend was abandoned for years. Now they have lawyered up and are formally appealing the C of O. Neighbor John Benedict, quoted in the East Hampton Press, stated that the previous owner turned the electricity off and disconnected the water supply in the early 2000s, and that he has "never seen the motel occupied at any time in the last 10 years and believe that the motel use has been abandoned by the owners."
Hotelier Sean MacPherson, current owner of the motel, is renting rooms to seasonal workers and says he has no plans to open to tourists.
