Curbed Cup Final Four: Westhampton (16) vs. Bridgehampton (4)

New, 2 comments

We're down to the final four in the Curbed Cup, our annual award to the Hamptons neighborhood of the year. There will be one matchup today and tomorrow, with the polls left open for 24 hours. The final showdown for the prestigious fake trophy will begin Wednesday. Please remember—no wagering.

The big story of this Cup competition is the strength of towns west of the canal. Bottom-seeded Westhampton/WHB today squares off against mighty fourth-seeded Bridgehampton. This should be interesting.

Westhampton and Westhampton Beach are new to the Cup, but have handily defeated all comers so far. There's a thriving arts scene in Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, and the new Hamptons Business District at the airport, which includes a new Tate's. Westhampton is of course known for beautiful beaches, especially Cupsogue, and boasts some great restaurants as well such as The Patio. Plus? No traffic nightmares.

Bridgehampton is always a force to reckon with in the Cup, yet has never won. And with amenities like Bridgehampton Commons, a "charming, manageably sized village of its own with great restaurants and shops" (according to one commenter), central location which means it's convenient to everything, uncrowded beaches, and horse country, it's surprising. Can Bridge unite everyone for a Cup win this year?
