Plenty of Family Holiday Fun in Montauk Thanksgiving Weekend

Get your appetite raring for the big meal Thanksgiving morning at 10AM with the 39th annual Turkey Trot Run for Fun (either 3 mile or 6 mile). Check in at the Village Green between 8-9:30 AM; pre-registration is not necessary. Cost to enter is $10 and the first 300 participants receive a commemorative t-shirt.

On Friday, November 27, the Montauk Playhouse Foundation is putting on a puppet show for all ages, with crafts to follow. Liz Joyce and a Couple of Puppets with her Goat on a Boat Puppet Theater perform "The Princess, the Frog & the Pea" at 3PM Cost: $8 children, $10 adults.

Go shopping on Saturday at the Community Church Holiday Fair and Rummage Sale Saturday from 9AM – 2PM. There will be a silent auction, Christmas decorations, new and used toys, handmade rugs and other gifts, and Santa arrives at 11AM. The library's Holiday Book Sale will be held between 10AM to 3PM, with gift books, art books, cookbooks, children's books, decorations, jewelry and more.

The Annual Family Holiday Fun Day sponsored by the Montauk Chamber of Commerce and Camp Soulgrow is Saturday, November 28, from 1 to 3 PM at the Montauk Yacht Club. This is a free event for youngsters to create holiday crafts and tree ornaments. There is Christmas karaoke, along with cider, cookies and plenty of good cheer.

Also on Saturday is the 8th annual Lighting of The Lighthouse. Lighting takes place between 4:30PM and 7PM. (Rain date is 12/5/15.) Parking and admission to the lighthouse grounds are free, and the event includes holiday music and caroling, along with Santa. The next day is Sunday Christmas at the Lighthouse with Santa. The Lighthouse, decorated for the holiday, will serve hot cider and snacks. Pony rides are available for young children, and kids can be photographed with Santa. Admission to the museum is free during this event, but the tower climb is closed. Rain date is December 6.
