Honor Pyrrhus Concer at the Agawam Ferry Dedication Saturday

In honor of Southampton's Pyrrhus Concer, the formal dedication of the new ferry named in his honor will take place Saturday, September 27, at 11:30AM in Agawam Park. Enjoy a free ride on the catboat and then stay for the activities of Septemberfest.

Despite being born a slave in Southampton in 1814, Pyrrhus Concer lived a life of achievement, including whaling, visiting Japan, and running a sailboat ferry service on Lake Agawam. This year is the 200th anniversary of his birth.
