Plenty of room for a large extended family in this impeccably decorated (by Steven Gambrel) house. Plus, you get Georgica Association bragging rights, as well as the cabanas, sailing and tennis that goes along with membership. There's slightly over four acres of land with a sunken tennis court and pool, pool house, spa, playground for kids, and outdoor fireplace.
The house itself is a whopping 13,900sf, with 11 bedrooms and 12.5 baths in all. The bedrooms are arranged in clusters, which is why we thought this place would be ideal for an extended family. Three are on the main floor with a common sitting room and kitchenette; then there's the master with office, terrace and wet bar. Then there are four more bedrooms with another common room for playing, sitting, or TV watching. Three more bedrooms are tucked away and could be used for staff or the family members you don't like as much.
Decoration is impeccable, as we said; there's nothing to fault except, perhaps, a lack of color and a slight dullness for our tastes. Even the price seems reasonable: waterfront acres on the pond go for $8-9M apiece lately, and you get four acres plus house with this property, although this one doesn't have that much water frontage.
