Hamptonite Claus Hoie, who died in 2007, is the subject of an exhibition at the Bridgehampton Museum that begins today. "Claus Hoie's Greengrocer Series: Bountiful Harvest" are watercolors that span the last three decades of the artist's life; some are on display for the first time. Intellectual curiosity, imagination, and daily walks observing natural phenomena all served as motivation for Hoie's fruit and vegetable pictures. Especially interesting is his inventive use of calligraphy to emphasize species names derived from centuries-old scientific expeditions. Opening reception is this evening from 5-7PM.
