Go from the Barre to Beach in No Time Flat at Elements

New, 3 comments

The buzz about barre fitness just keeps growing. This summer, you'll be able to go straight from the barre to the beach with the first barre facility in East Hampton, Elements Fitness Studio, set to open May 1. A high energy boutique studio offering barre fitness, dance cardio and cardio boxing classes, Elements specializes in small group sessions and private training, in addition to offering customized programs in pre/post natal fitness, corporate wellness, and bridal bootcamps. It was founded in Manhattan in 2010 by dancer Andrea Fornarola Hunsberger, who's also a music theatre performer, actor, and teaching artist.

We asked Andrea why barre fitness is a great summer workout. She says, "There's no better time to throw on your bikini than after a barre class: the isometric exercises make your muscles look extra sculpted and toned. And after all, you just made it through an intense 60-minute workout, so afterwards the cool ocean water never felt so good! Swimming is a great complementary workout to the barre." You'll have plenty of room in your bag for beach stuff, since you don't need to bring any equipment or sneakers to the studio. Another tip from Andrea is to put a sweat-resistant sunscreen on before class, so you can run right from the studio to the sand. And if you want to go glam, head for a blowout at the Salon Bar right next door!
