Fun and Free Guest Perks at Hamptons Hotels

New, 1 comment

Towel origami is so yesterday. Today's Hamptons hotspots know they have to keep on top of the latest trends to stay competitive. Here's a roundup of some of the most fun to be had for free.

Outdoor Frolics
Summer in the Hamptons is all about the great outdoors. When you're not at the beach, kick back and relax with outdoor games. Two Shelter Island hotels, La Maison Blanche and Sunset Beach, keep trying to make pétanque happen with dedicated courts. The French game is similar to bocce. c/o the Maidstone has boules available in their private garden, along with croquet and a Kubb set. Kubb is a Swedish version of bocce or boules. The Southampton Inn also offers croquet and Ruschmeyer's goes old school with bocce.

Bored with lawn bowling? How about ping pong? c/o the Maidstone has a SPiN branded ping pong table in the garden. Ruschmeyer's also offers ping pong. For those seeking a more active game, play volleyball or badminton at Solé East Resort, right by the beach.

Indoor fun
If it's raining, curl up with a good book at La Maison Blanche, the Maidstone, or Ruschmeyer's, which have in-house libraries. Or why not shoot some pool or play darts in the game room at the Inn at Windmill Lane? c/o the Maidstone also offers Sony PlayStations in each guest room.

Get on Your Bike
Bicycling can be one of the best ways to explore the Hamptons and some hostelries offer a free loan of a bike. c/o the Maidstone is well known for their vintage Swedish Kronan bikes, but beware: they're made for the tall folks. The Montauk Yacht Club and Ruschmeyer's also offer free bikes to wheel around town in.

More Active Fun
While gyms/fitness centers are becoming fairly standard in even modest hotels these days, few boast the private fitness rooms that the Inn at Windmill Lane does. If you'd rather work up a sweat on a golf course, the Montauk Yacht Club offers preferred tee times at Montauk Downs.

Time to Relax
Need to wind down after your active day? Garden firepits, as at Gurney's Inn, Solé East, the Crow's Nest, and the Surf Lodge, are increasingly popular. c/o the Maidstone offers free yoga in the garden, and at the Baker House 1650, as well as Gurney's, guests may use the hotel spas. Aaaah, another perfect day in the Hamptons.
