Take a Look at the Cheapest House in the Hamptons

New, 9 comments

We decided to see what was out there for the least money, our criteria being east of the canal and a freestanding home (no mobile homes, condos, or co-ops). Well, this is the winner: 77 Hillcrest Ave, Southampton Village. It's $245,000, 1096sf, two bedrooms, one bathroom, built in 1951, with "room for expansion." Though not too much room, as the lot is only 0.09 of an acre. No interior photos, so we assume it's in not-great condition, but still, that's a pretty low price. Even tacking on money for a new kitchen, bath, roof, and furnace, it's probably less than $300K all told for a cute little summer getaway.
