Is there anything more fun than the opportunity to peek inside beautiful houses? This year's tour, benefiting the East Hampton Historical Society, is titled "Up & Down the Village Lanes." And this year's kickoff cocktail party, held Friday, November 28, will be held for the first time at the historic Maidstone Club.
"The shingle has become the symbol of the East End," said Richard Barons, executive director of the historical society. "This year's tour celebrates the role that the shingle plays in the architecture of East Hampton. Through a varied vocabulary, architects have used the shingle to express the past in the present."
The self-guided tour is scheduled for Saturday, November 29, from 1 to 4:30PM. Tickets to the tour are $65 in advance and $75 on the day. The cocktail party is the evening before, Friday, November 28; tickets to the opening night cocktail party are $200, which includes entry to the house tour the next day. Tickets can be purchased at the EHHS office at 101 Main Street Tuesday – Saturday, 10 - 3:30, via the website, phone, or at Clinton Academy on November 28 and 29 between 10 - 3:30.
