Barn Style Sagaponack New-Build Saves Energy and Taxes

New, 25 comments

In 2012 New York enacted legislation allowing municipalities to exempt green buildings from real property taxes, which was adopted in Southampton in 2013. Depending on the level of LEED certification, an owner can pay no property tax at all (not including school tax) for 4-5 years and then get a discount on their tax for another 5-6 years.

This new-build has received LEED certification which means that not only is it energy efficient, it saves on taxes. Plus it's just a very attractive home: spacious, airy, and light, with cool industrial styling. It's 8500sf with six bedrooms, seven full and one half baths. We kind of covet the "wellness" room, perfect for yoga. There's a generous, private 3.4 acres in Sagaponack north. A large pool has a 60' lap lane for when you're tired of yoga. Asking price is $6.65M.
