Showcasing each artist's styling and arrangement of elements in a scene along with their post-processing concepts, The Still Life, a new exhibit by two area photographers, will open October 18 with an artists' reception from 6-8PM at the Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery in Cutchogue.
Basing his compositions and artistic sensibilities on the old masters, Harold Naideau combines modern elements and contemporary photographic methods and printing techniques to produce his works. Naideau's digital images are printed directly to birch and maple woods. This technique allows the grain of the wood to show through, creating a unique textural and patterned blend.
Steven Schreiber's still life series combines actuality with an illusion of reality. Schreiber created an image using everyday elements. Then, through post-processing, he overlays various screens, filters and effects on his photographs, producing otherworldly images.
View The Still Life from October 18 through November 23, and join Harold Naideau and Steven Schreiber for a gallery talk on Sunday, November 9, at 1PM.
