Sand, Seawall, or Jetties? Rebuilding Montauk Beaches

New, 6 comments

Tomorrow, September 26, at 11AM, representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers will present options for erosion control in downtown Montauk beaches at East Hampton Town Hall. Options include refilling the beach with sand, constructing a buried seawall, or building jetties. The jetties would be equally spaced opposite (roughly) the IGA to the Surf Club, while the seawall would be slightly to the east of the jetties. The seawall would be an eleven-foot-high structure buried under yards of sand. Work could begin as soon as this winter using Sandy relief funds.
