Sure, you could spend a beautiful autumn day picking apples, but does that involve drinking alcohol? Thought not. Instead, drive out (or catch a chartered bus) on Sunday to Laurel Lake Vineyards for "Day in the Vineyard" hosted by Long Island Wine Country dot com. You'll gain a new appreciation for the winemaking process as you clip Chardonnay grapes in the vineyard, see how the grapes are crushed, go on a tour and tasting of the wine cellar, and enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, there's live music, a barrel rolling contest, artisan cheese tasting, and the option to blend your own bottle of red with a winemaker.
