Yesterday, Sagaponack Village Board nixed its plans to form its own police department. Southampton Town agreed to give the village a dedicated patrol car 24 hours a day between May 15 and September 15, and from 8AM to midnight the rest of the year. Sagaponack gets the police coverage it wanted with its own force and Southampton keeps the $2.3M in taxes residents pay for protection. [27East]
