Taxi Anarchy in the MTK

New, 6 comments

When last we checked in with the taxi situation in East Hampton Town, local cab companies were annoyed about the town planning new regulations, including limiting the number of livery cabs allowed and make them clearly post their rates. However, the situation has gotten so bad in Montauk, drivers say, that the town needs to step in. A Pink Tuna driver, Mike Sparks, "said the town had to do something to tighten regulations and either cap or reduce the number of permits it issues." Many cabs gouge customers, take up precious downtown parking spots, and drive recklessly.
