Last Friday evening, Jay McInerney, the well-known writer and wine authority, hosted a small gathering at Watchcase in Sag Harbor with a wine tasting and a book reading. First, guests tasted four rosés, two from Provence and two from Long Island, which were served in numbered decanters so no one knew which was which. Guests then voted on their preferences with a show of hands. Winners were Wölffer, from Sagaponack, and Domaines Ott from France. Jay discussed the wines and read a passage from his book The Juice about rosé. Finally, the guests toured the Watchcase penthouse apartment.
