This modern glass and stone house, on Daniels Lane in Sagaponack, has a timeless design. It's completely up to date, yet it references 1960s and 1970s classic beach houses by the likes of Norman Jaffe. It was designed by local architect Blaze Makoid. While the interior and exteriors are spare to the point of spartan, the use of natural materials such as African teak and Calcutta marble warm the building up and also allude to the dunes and coast surrounding the house. Fifteen-foot-wide floor to ceiling glass sliding panels maximize the ocean view on the first floor. (Look at the suspended glass fireplace in the dining area!) The house is also energy efficient, exploiting geothermal and solar power technology.
