Swapping Million-Dollar Homes for Trailers for the Summer? The Horror!

New, 9 comments

The New York Post reported breathlessly on Hamptonites trading in "their luxury million-dollar homes for the summer — to live in a trailer park." That trailer park being the Montauk Shores condominium units, which are pretty damn nice. "Trailer park" is a downmarket term that frankly is at odds with Montauk Shores, with its ocean beach, two pools, basketball court, clubhouse and playground. The two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bedroom unit above is asking $125,000.

Furthermore, this is nothing new. Hamptonites have been retiring to guesthouses and back houses in the summer and renting out their main houses for generations.
