The Shinnecock Museum is opening a new cultural attraction May 25, the Wikun Village. Wikun, which is Shinnecock for "Good," Village is an outdoor living exhibit telling the story of life in a seventeenth-eighteenth century native community. It is located next to the museum in a two-acre forest. Visitors can speak with native staff as they carry out daily activities such as tending a garden or relaxing inside a longhouse furnished with fur-covered benches. The Wikun Village experience includes guided boat tours, children's programs, dance presentations, craft demonstrations, workshops and more.
