East Hampton Trustees Urged to Restrain Lazy Point Residents

New, 1 comment

Lazy Point, an area of about fifty cottages in north Napeague, is a unique spot. Residents own their houses but lease the land under them from the East Hampton Town Trustees. The trustees have owned and managed the land since 1686, after English settlers purchased the land from the Native Americans. But now residents are beginning to modify their homes and the land without permission, so the trustees' Lazy Point committee is urging the trustees to clamp down on unauthorized fence heights, decks, seawalls, and second stories.
