Is the Hallock House in Quogue Being Replicated or Restored?

New, 5 comments

Concerned Quogue residents are calling for greater protection of historic buildings in the village. About 20 residents gathered at the home of Nancy Mullen, a member of the Southampton Town Landmarks and Historic Districts Board. There the citizens agreed that something like a local ordinance is needed to prevent the dismantling of antique structures. At particular issue is current construction at the Hallock House, formerly called the Inn at Quogue, an 1824 building. According to the group, too much original material had been removed to call the work anything but a replica, rather than a restoration.
