East End About to Get Boozier

New, 14 comments

Everyone knows by now that the North and South Forks offer great wineries. Swell, but what if you're a beer drinker? You're in luck, as brewery plans on the East End have been hopping, with local businesses vying to make the area a destination for trendy craft beers as well.

In response to the vogue for small-batch local beer, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company is expanding and two new Riverhead breweries--Crooked Ladder Brewing Company and Moustache Brewing Company—are in the works. (There's probably still time to claim Fedora Brewing Company as a New York DBA!) Long Ireland, another local brewer, is doing well. Furthermore, Long Island farmers are beginning to grow hops, a crucial ingredient for beer.
