Updated Carriage House with Historic Connections

New, 1 comment

A former carriage house built in the 1930s and renovated in 2007 by Hamptons architect Nick Vero has a new price. For $3,950,000 (pricechopped from $4,199,000), you get 6000sf of space, seven bedrooms, 7.5 baths, five fireplaces, a billiards room, and over an acre of property. There's a cabana with bath off the gunite pool. The detached four car garage has additional loft space above.
What's particularly interesting about this house is that it was used by members of the Post family. Richard Post was one of the founders of Southampton in 1640; his brother Stephen Post was an ancestor of CW Post of cereal fame. Richard's grandson John Post, along with his wife Abigail Halsey, were the first settlers in Quogue about 1740. I bet they didn't have a steam shower off their master suite, though.
