On Wednesday we broke the news that the beloved East Deck motel in Ditch Plains has been sold. Various people have told us that the buyer is Vitaminwater billionaire Mike Repole. He wants to turn the motel into a private surf club and relocate the pool. On the original post, a commenter wrote, "They have already submitted plans for a 10' high chain link fence to run perpendicular to the beach---blocking east/west traffic and creating a private beach." Not true (thank goodness), but with a germ of truth—the new owner really did want to put a chain link fence around the whole property during renovations but was told it would look standoffish. Ya think? Some members of the current staff will be retained for continuity.
