Although most senior citizens would choose to move to Florida in their twilight years, those interested in sticking it out on the East End now have a retirement home in Amagansett to consider. Seven people have already moved into newly constructed apartments on the grounds of St. Michael's Lutheran Church (across the highway from the IGA) and more old people should be shuffling into the other units soon (there are 40 apartments in all). To be eligible, potential residents have to be age 62 or older and can't have income higher than $36,000 (or $42,000 for a couple). Or in other words, 1,400 vodka sodas from Nello's (or 560 pounds of Loaves & Fishes lobster salad for a couple). [East Hampton Star]
