Want to injure yourself in East Hampton? Be sure to plan way ahead because the wait for an ambulance is going to be very long. A recent episode in front of the Village Post Office left a 97-year-old man laying on the cold, concrete ground waiting for help for over 20 minutes. And when help finally arrived, it was an ambulance from the neighboring Springs district (not the Village of East Hampton). The chief of the East Hampton Village Ambulance Association assures residents that they're "looking into alternative ways to make it better." We'll be holding our breath (we have our own supplemental oxygen tanks and can totally take care of ourselves should anything go wrong). [Patch]
