A tipster alerted us to the scene at one East Hampton eatery during Labor Day weekend: "Over the long weekend, I drove by the Hamptons Players Club in the evening and it looked like it was closed. It has also vanished from Open Table." While the HPC was originally slated to remain open in the off-season, calls and Emails to the restaurant have yet to be returned. Combine the non-response with the restaurant's removal from OpenTable and an empty parking lot all summer long, and it looks like we may have our first restaurant casualty of the year.
