If all goes according to Jeffrey Schneider and Tom Barton's plan, the 1.22 acre lot currently home to the long-shuttered Star Room will become Hamptons Wash, an almost fully-automated car wash. According to Patch, they "want to remove the existing dilapidated barn and construct a 5,400-square-foot building, mainly for an automated car wash and four detail bays."
The pair recently recently pitched the proposal to the East Hampton Town Planning Board and, for the most part, it was generally well received. As with anything not currently in existence in the area, they'll have to jump through a few hoops before they get the go ahead. Questions about environmental impact, lighting, traffic, parking, building placement, noise and even landscaping will need to be addressed at future planning meetings.
