Artists Vs. Writers; A Horseless Horse Show; More!

Don't know what to do this weekend? Fret not, dear reader. We've scanned our inbox (and the Internet) for a few events that might be worth checking out. Enjoy!

THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP (Mulford Farm, East Hampton)

If you're looking for a little family fun, head on over to East Hampton's Mulford Farm for an outdoor performance of "The Mystery Of Irma Vep." The curtain's at 7:30, but get there a little early and have yourself a little picnic. The satirical play runs Wednesdays through Sundays, Aug. 15 - 26 (and Aug. 30 and 31) and space is limited (only 50 seats), so it might be best to book in advance. Tickets are $25. [LINK]

FASHION YARD SALE (216 Main Street, Amagansett)

Dubbed "The Greatest Fashion Yard Sale Ever," Tiina Laakonen (formerly of Vogue UK and T Magazine) has tapped into her fashionista network and put together an impressive collection of designer cloths, bags and accessories at amazing prices. The shopping madness is slated for Saturday from 8am to noon. [LINK]

HORSELESS HORSE SHOW (320 Majors Path, Southampton)

This one seems kinda cute. On Saturday from 2pm to 5pm, CTREE will be holding a "Horseless Horse Show." It's run just like a regular horse show, but with children (and maybe a few adults) navigating the scaled-down obstacles and courses. The fee for entry is $25 which goes towards helping CTREE achieve their mission of providing "therapeutic riding lessons and equine assisted activities to children and young adults with cognitive, physical or emotional disabilities." ELLEN'S RUN (Parrish Memorial Hall, Southampton)

If you've still got some energy left over after battling the weekend crowds, put it to some good use by participating in a 5K on Sunday. Ellen's Run is a non-profit helping "breast cancer patients and their families cope with the changing nature of the physical and emotional aspects of breast cancer." The event begins at 9am (rain or shine) and costs $40. [LINK]

SOUTHAMPTON'S SUMMER COLONY WALKING TOUR (14 Gin Lane, Southampton)

Need a little history in your life? You're in luck! On Sunday, Gary Lawrance (author of "Houses Of The Hamptons") will be leading "a one hour walking tour that [discusses] the beginnings of and why the village of Southampton became the world famous resort...known for its splendid estates and luxurious lifestyle." The tour/discussion begins at 11am and costs $10. [LINK]
