This Is The Most Important Weekend Of The Summer

THE BIG BANG: WATERMILL CENTER'S ANNUAL BENEFIT GALA
Unequivocally, this is the best event in the Hamptons. At the party, performance artists mingle with guests throughout the center's 8-acre site and the experience is simultaneously wild, weird, and spectacular. Last year, there were men buried up to their necks singing slow songs, pregnant women on rope swings dressed in latex, a bulldozer turned into a music box, women loudly throwing stuffed animals at each other over guests' heads, a dog walking a woman, and many other performances that defy explanation or interpretation. Also notable is their impressive silent auction, which will include art by notables like Marina Abramovi?, Willem de Kooning, and, of course, Robert Wilson. This year's theme is "The Big Bang" and the dress code is "Pop." Dressing up is definitely encouraged...the more outrageous, the better.

SUPER SATURDAY: BENEFIT FOR THE OVARIAN CANCER RESEARCH FUND
Super Saturday is also making its annual splash in the Hamptons this weekend. This hotly anticipated shopping event benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and combines celebrities with sharp elbows, deeply discounted clothing from more than 200 designers, and sweltering heat. For the best selection, be prepared to run as soon as they open the gate. And for the best bargains, stick around towards the 6pm closing time when anything left is practically given away.

ART FOR LIFE: BENEFIT FOR THE RUSH PHILANTHROPIC ARTS FOUNDATION
Also known as "Russell Simmons' Party," the annual Art for Life benefit is also taking place this weekend. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are being honored and there'll be special performances by Anita Baker and Salt-N-Pepa. Guests are strongly encouraged to wear one or more of the following colors: "Rush" orange, aqua blue, chartreuse, or fuchsia.
