Behold! The Greenport/Sag Harbor Pedestrian Ferry

New, 3 comments

The pedestrian ferry connecting Greenport and Sag Harbor was supposed to be up and running by this point, but local politics being what they are (Ronjo alleyway, anyone?), we're still waiting. Hopefully, the next couple of votes?scheduled for June 12th and June 19th?will go off without a hitch and the water taxi's 100-day trial can finally get underway.

In preparation for the launch of the service, the Shelter Island Reporter caught up with Jim Ryan of Response Marine to "give everyone an idea of what the vessel will look like actually when she's running." The biggest takeaway from the 2:50 minute clip? The 53-passenger ship will be showcasing the maritime history of the two villages as well as offering wine tastings.
