Georgica Beach, which suffered severe erosion stemming from Hurricane Irene, will once again be open to swimmers on Friday. Thanks to nature doing its thing over the past month, the beach has been replenished to the point that it can now accommodate a lifeguard stand. The East Hampton Village Mayor seems cautiously optimistic that Georgica will remain available to swimmers for the rest of the summer: "As this beach continues to improve we hope we will be able to maintain this for the remainder for the summer season." They're keeping the portable bathrooms at Wiborg just in case, though. [Previously, Patch]
