After 2.5 Years, Shelter Island's YN-13 House Has A Buyer

New, 4 comments

The impending sale of the YN-13 House is probably bittersweet for its owner/designer Michael Morris. It's the "calling card" for the architecture firm (Morris Sato Studio) that he and his wife of almost three decades?architect Yoshiko Sato?designed and constructed before she succumbed to cancer earlier this year.

The Japanese influenced modern has been heralded as the antithesis of the current "cookie-cutter, shingles-on-steroids McMansion" trend so popular in the Hamptons these days. Sadly, looking at the pricing history, that doesn't make for an easy sell. The home first hit the market in 2009 with a $4.495M pricetag attached, but was most recently listed with Brown Harris Stevens for $1.95M.
