The First "Beach Box" Hits The Market, Wants $1.395M

New, 7 comments

We've been patiently awaiting for this particular listing to hit the interwebs since we first learned about the "Beach Box" back in October. Built using re-purposed steel shipping containers, the four-bedroom home is an environmentalist's (one with money, at least) dream:

"The custom white and stainless kitchen features EcoTop counters by Kliptech. The beachy-chic white washed white oak floors, cyprus siding and cedar decking are certified sustainable. The tankless/instantaneous water heating system and central HVAC units were installed for maximum energy efficiency. All appliances are energy star for the highest, most efficient energy performance!" Set on .17 acres "a mere 600 feet from the ocean," the 2000 sq. ft. home also offers 1,300 sq. ft. of exterior decking, an outdoor shower, and a pool. It's Montauk Highway location could be a turn off for some, but being able to brag that you have "the Hampton's very first eco-container home" might make up for the less-than-ideal address. And being able to walk to The Lobster Roll without having to cross the street is always a plus in our book. · Listing: 1932 Montauk Hwy - Amagansett Dunes [Prudential Douglas Elliman]
