Pedestrian Ferry

The proposed Sag Harbor/Greenport pedestrian ferry cleared a major hurdle last night when the Sag Harbor Village Board of Trustees voted 4-1 in favor of allowing the service to run between now and October 31. While many welcome the idea and consider it "forward thinking," not everyone in the village is on board with the idea. Questions about parking issues, business and environmental impact remain unanswered. Steve Frankel, a 10 year Sag Harbor resident, argued, "Most things in this village happen very slowly because things are considered very carefully, so it seems out of character to me that there is the decision being made to try this experiment this summer."
