Five Ways To Celebrate Cinco De Mayo In The Hamptons

New, 1 comment

The Hamptons season doesn't officially begin for about three more weeks, but you can get an early start this weekend at one of the handful of Cinco De Mayo events/specials scheduled for the big day. Here's a quick rundown of the May 5th festivities.

What: Yappy Hour At Foody's
When: 3:30pm - 6pm
Details: Got a canine and the dog park's gotten boring? You're in luck! Foody's is throwing their first "Yappy Hour" of the season on Saturday. There will be "delectable appetizers" for your four-legged friends, food and drink specials for the humans, pet adoption from Last Chance Rescue, and the opportunity to "Ask The Trainer" all your dog-related questions.

What: Cinco De Mayo Celebration At Hampton Library
When: 2pm - 4pm
Details: If you've got kids and need to win some parent points, consider taking them to Hampton Library in Bridgehampton this Saturday. There will be Mexican crafts, a piñata, food, readings and, at 3:00, the local Tenochtitlan Dance Group, dancing on the back deck.

What: Cinco De Mayo Taco Party
When: All day, but it must be ordered in advance
Details: If you don't feel like dealing with the crowds, but still want to celebrate May 5th, La Fondita's got a catering package just for you. For $66.50 you get: A large order of tortilla ships, a medium pico de gallo (fresh salsa), a medium guacamole, a 1/2 pint of 3 fillings - beef, chicken and pork (enough for fifteen tacos), tortillas, onion and cilantro garnish and lime wedges. Just pick up some tequila and you're in business. Call (631) 267-8800 to reserve your package.

What: Specials At Navy Beach
When: noon to 5pm
Details: Though they've just opened for the season, Navy Beach is already bringing the deals. Saturday afternoon, stop by the bar where they'll be offering a trio of fish tacos with pico de gallo and lime crema with a Corona ($15) or with a margarita ($20).

What: Cinco De Mayo At Phao
When: 10:30pm - close
Details: While it might seem a little strange that Sag Harbor's Thai place is throwing an event to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride, we can't find fault with drink specials all night long. Add a DJ and no cover to the mix and you'll almost forget your in an establishment that serves up curry and drunken noodles.
