The Village of East Hampton has finally gotten around to addressing a problem that seems to worsen every year: Empty storefronts. The village board is proposing a law that would ban "papered-over or dark storefronts." To this we say: Hallelujah! Anyone who's walked through the village (especially the south side of Main Street) during the offseason knows how depressing it looks. [EH Star]
