Early Reviews Of Sotta Sopra: Generally Positive

New, 5 comments

Last week we mentioned that Sotta Sopra had opened in the old Exile On Main Street space in Amagansett. We have yet to make a trip out to the Italian eatery, but a couple of Curbed readers have already sampled the cuisine and were kind enough to share their thoughts.

The OK: "food is pretty good, service needs to develop but it will...prices are a little higher than you'd think..hope it succeeds though. location really is cursed!"

The Glowing (via Email): "We had been at the restaurant at this location before and hated it! Last night it was pure joy! Our waitress was from North Carolina, just moved here with her boyfriend who also worked there. She was fabulous, such a breath of fresh air, a big smile and very warm and attentive.

The food was great! I had Caesar salad, and the farfalle pasta with broccoli rabe gorgonzola and pine nuts. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. My husband had the whole fish, [my friend] had the pine nut crusted salmon, and [her husband] had the Outer Banks Swordfish. Everyone raved! The house cab was fab. The bread on the table was warm and fresh.

To top the evening off one of the owners Joe Smith ( of Bobby Van's) stopped by, personally introduced himself and made us feel like VIPs.

Great service, great food, I would say the Hamptons have their new hot spot!"
