The restored/preserved (save for the kitchen and bathrooms, according to one commenter) 14-bedroom home designed by William B. Tuthill?the man responsible for Carnegie Hall?found a buyer almost as soon as it hit the market last November. When the news was announced that a contract was signed so quickly , we assumed that it would go for "close to the original ask." And it did. In fact, it went for $1.25M more than the original $24.5M pricetag?it was likely there was more than one party interested in the place. Other than the sale representing the 3rd biggest of the year, it's notable because it's the first time in recent memory that a $20M+ home sold above the asking price.

If you've got any information on who the lucky buyer is, feel free to send us an Email to Hamptons@Curbed.com. We'll be sure to keep your identity a secret.
