4-Acre Estate Of The Late Cliff Robertson Hits The Market

New, 1 comment

Who knew that the recent Spiderman trilogy's Uncle Ben had a spread like this in Water Mill? The Oscar-winning actor, who passed last September, had a career spanning half a century and, from the looks of it, made some pretty stellar real estate purchases with his earnings. Some of his more memorable roles include playing a young John F. Kennedy in PT 109, Buzz Aldrin in Return To Earth and Charlie Gordon in the movie Charly (his performance in the Flowers for Algernon adaptation earned him the best actor Academy Award™).

For a man with such an impressive list of credits to his name, the home itself is surprisingly modest: "The gambrel-style residence [offers] two bedrooms, three baths, ground floor and upper level living room[s], library, kitchen and dining area, with outdoor deck." And, while the brokerbabble notes that it could "be expanded or converted into a second/guest house," we get the impression that it's not long for this world. Anyone willing to shell out the $22.5M asking price is going want to to make the most of the property's four acres, "jaw-dropping, western views across the water" and 265 ft. of frontage on Hayground/Mecox Bay. Hopefully, J-Lo's rumored purchase of the adjacent home won't keep potential buyers away.

Cocktail Party Fodder: Mr. Robertson belonged to the insanely exclusive Maidstone Club at a time when actors weren't given consideration for membership. The only reason he was allowed to join was due to his marriage to Post Cereals heiress Dina Merrill.
