It's been in the works for a while, but it is now official: Whole Foods is headed to The Hamptons. Specifically, they'll be opening a seasonal (aka "pop up") farmers market at the the former Plitt Ford dealership on Montauk Highway in Wainscott.
In an Email sent to The East Hampton Star, Michael Sinatra, a spokesman for the national chain, wrote
"...during the next couple of weeks, the Whole Foods Market team will be outfitting the space and creating a temporary store to service the area through the summer months, offering a variety of fresh produce, specialty items, and more."According to Gregg Saunders, the owner of the site, this summer will act as a test to see if a permanent store is viable in the location. Determining that is "...going to be up to the town, and the people of East Hampton," Mr. Saunders said.
