Whole Foods Will Be Opening A Pop-Up Market In Wainscott

New, 32 comments

It's been in the works for a while, but it is now official: Whole Foods is headed to The Hamptons. Specifically, they'll be opening a seasonal (aka "pop up") farmers market at the the former Plitt Ford dealership on Montauk Highway in Wainscott.

In an Email sent to The East Hampton Star, Michael Sinatra, a spokesman for the national chain, wrote

"...during the next couple of weeks, the Whole Foods Market team will be outfitting the space and creating a temporary store to service the area through the summer months, offering a variety of fresh produce, specialty items, and more."According to Gregg Saunders, the owner of the site, this summer will act as a test to see if a permanent store is viable in the location. Determining that is "...going to be up to the town, and the people of East Hampton," Mr. Saunders said. If word (more like squeals of joy) on the street is any indication, that shouldn't be a problem. Cue the bitching about traffic in 3...2...
