$1.425M In East Hampton: A Renovated Four-Bed In The Village

New, 1 comment

Where: 65 Toilsome Lane, East Hampton
Price: $1,425,000
Sale Date: January 27, 2012
Bedrooms/Baths/Sq. Ft.: 4/3.5/2850
Acreage: .48
The Skinny: When the brokerbabble stated that the owner of this home built in 1880 was motivated, it sure wasn't kidding around. Gail Jacobs first listed the house for $2.3M in October of 2011 and ended selling the place for $1.425M roughly three months later?quite a dramatic drop in price for such a short amount of time. However, since she originally paid a little less than $1M back 2005, it's very likely Ms. Jacobs didn't end up taking a loss on the deal. The home itself is kind of interesting. Set on about half an acre, the restored and enlarged residence offers a detached artist studio, three fireplaces, "nooks, extra spaces", the requisite gunite pool as well as "porches and patios and garden paths." The floors might be a little too busy for some, but the house is quirky enough that they don't feel out of place.
