Beach Permit Update

If you thought you might be able to get your hands on an East Hampton Village beach pass this week, we've got some bad news: They sold out on Friday. And even if did get your hands on one of the 2900 permits made available to non-village residents, we've got some more (maybe) bad news. According to Village Administrator Larry Cantwell, "It is possible the condition of [Georgica Beach] after the severe erosion that began with the tropical storm Irene will prohibit lifeguard protection." Expect a decision to be made on the whether or not Georgica will offer said protection some time in June. Until then, take comfort in knowing that Main Beach and Two Mile Hollow will still be have them when the season starts. [Previously, Curbed Hamptons]
