Perhaps the new residents of "The House At Sagaponac" won't need earplugs this summer after all. The FAA has proposed a new series of regulations for the airspace over the East Hampton Airport before a control tower can begin operating this season. Among the rules: Traffic controllers will be able to keep arriving aircraft at a higher altitude longer, require them to climb more steeply upon take off and (this is the biggie) direct their flight paths away from developed areas. With any luck, this should help quiet some of the noise that folks living by the airport are forced to contend with each summer. [AviationPros.com]
