Over the weekend we noticed that a pair of very similar Sagaponack listings were marked as "In Contract" on Corcoran's site. Both are oceanfront. Both are located on Potato Road. Both hit the market at the same time. And both entered contract the same weekend. Interestingly, they're practically neighbors?there's only one house separating the two.
Coincidence or do we have another David Tepper situation in the making? Readers will recall that Mr. Tepper shelled out $43.5M for a home just to tear it down so he could build a new one. We're inclined to think that this really is just a coincidence, but it wouldn't be all that surprising to learn there's only one buyer involved. We reached out to the listing agents?Corcoran's Susan Breitenbach and Ginger Thoerner?to see if they'd be willing to spill any of the details. Until we hear back (or the sale is finalized and made public), let's take a look at the homes in question.
Listing: Sagaponack Oceanfront
Asking Price: $9.75M
Bedrooms/Bathrooms/Sq. Ft.: 4/5/3200
The Skinny: Built by Stanley Dalene, this four bedroom traditional offers a vaulted-ceiling great room with panoramic ocean views, an open kitchen/dinining area and generous mahogany decking overlooking an infinity edge pool (not to mention the Atlantic). The home also boasts a few amenities that might come in handy during hurrican season: custom mahogany hurricane windows and doors and a back-up generator.
Listing: Oceanfront In Sagaponack
Asking Price: $8.495M
Bedrooms/Bathrooms/Sq. Ft.: 6/3/2300
The Skinny: Arguably the less attractive of the pair, this "recently" renovated oceanfront cottage offers decking on every level (even the roof), a pair of living rooms, an open kitchen and an oceanside pool. If you'd rather take a dip in the ocean, you're in luck. There's a footpath that leads directly to the beach.
